Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Core Skills Training presents a set of four, two-day workshops and is designed to follow the EFT Externship. Core Skills offers an in-depth opportunity to develop the skills essential to the practice of EFT. Each segment includes instruction, role play, observation of video, and consultation.

The Training Team
Robert Allan, PhD, is an EFT Trainer, Supervisor, and Therapist based in Denver, Colorado. He is an Associate Professor in the Couple and Family Therapy program at the University of Colorado Denver. Robert has helped train and supervise therapists and students in Emotionally Focused Therapy across Canada, the US, and Great Britain.
Robert’s interest in EFT extends to his research work where he has explored cultural adaptations of EFT. He is currently the co-Principal Investigator and supervising the Denver site for the first clinical trial of Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT). Robert completed his PhD at Dalhousie University, he is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Colorado, and an Approved Supervisor with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Robert is a warm, knowledgeable, and engaged trainer with a passion for helping people learn EFT.
Crystal Fegenbush will be the clinical lead for this round of Core Skills. Crystal has a Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Colorado Denver. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), and an ICEEFT Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist and Supervisor. Crystal received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Colorado College in Colorado Springs and has over 10 years of experience in community mental health serving adults recovering from severe mental illness, addiction, and significant trauma. In 2016, she completed a volunteership at the Gender Identity Center of Colorado where she provided counseling services to individuals and couples in the transgender community. Crystal has additional training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) from Noeticus Counseling Center and Training Institute and Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) from EMDR of the Rockies.
Crystal’s passion is working with Chicano couples, couples of color, and interracial couples as well as individuals of color navigating work stress and perfectionism. As a second generation immigrant raised in a biracial household, offering services that honor all aspects of a client's identity is at the center of her practice. Crystal’s personal and professional passion is to serve the community through social justice and emotional healing.
Born and raised in the Denver area, Crystal loves spending her free time hiking, knitting, reading, and drinking tea in the company of her husband, daughter, and two cats.
